Using Special Characters for UTMs

Using unconventional or special characters such as the long [em] dash for your naming conventions can be translated incorrectly when Google Analytics decodes UTMs or processes cost data imports. Ideally you would stay within the following characters:

- _ . ! ~ * ( ) % # ; / ? : @ & = + $ , \ " [ ] { } | ` ^ '

In addition, we recommend you refrain from using double spaces since these can be translated as single spaces when Google Analytics decodes UTMs or processes cost data imports.
